English Synonyms and Antonyms
admiration
Amazement and astonishment both express the momentary overwhelming of the mind by that which is beyond expectation. Astonishment especially affects the emotions, amazement the intellect. Awe is the yielding of the mind to something supremely grand in character or formidable in power, and ranges from apprehension or dread to reverent worship. Admiration includes delight and regard. Surprise lies midway between astonishment and amazement, and usually respects matters of lighter consequence or such as are less startling in character. Amazement may be either pleasing or painful, as when induced by the grandeur of the mountains, or by the fury of the storm. We can say pleased surprise, but scarcely pleased astonishment. Amazement has in it something of confusion or bewilderment; but confusion and bewilderment may occur without amazement, as when a multitude of details require instant attention. Astonishment may be without bewilderment or confusion. Wonder is often pleasing, and may be continuous in view of that which surpasses our comprehension; as, the magnitude, order, and beauty of the heavens fill us with increasing wonder. Compare PERPLEXITY.

How to use admiration in a sentence?
Whenever you commend, add your reasons for doing so it is this which distinguishes the approbation of a man of sense from the flattery of sycophants and admiration of fools.
I think more than any other person that I’ve ever known, my mother exemplified what is best about this country, my mother was a registered nurse and … she treated African Americans exactly the same as she did White people and she was unique, perhaps among the 30,000 people that lived in our county, in doing that. I was filled with admiration for my mother.
I think there are many, many Democrats who find it impossible to admire a woman that they politically disagree with, so when you have Democrats saying my candidacy is offensive to women, that's about politics. That's not about an admiration of a fellow woman. That's not about kinship. And I think that's too bad.
They love each other. You see it. When I worked with them closely in the White House and in Arkansas and after the White House, there is a mutual respect and admiration for certain, but there's also a lot of love, i mean, she -- you know, they hold hands. He just sort of puts his hands on her shoulders and she lights up. And vice versa. They take long walks together. They have long conversations together. It's a very good relationship. How they manage whatever happened or didn't happen is their business and I never ever asked.
Those are brave men,” he told Ser Balon in admiration. “Let's go kill them.”
