We don't have an active MERS programme but we are certainly thinking about what we should do if this becomes an issue, there is a threat list of diseases that people think are potentially going to do something and MERS is at the top.
This has become the number one risk over the last few weeks. The problem with MERS is that it's harder to catch, but the fatality rate is higher once you've got it, it's the fact that people then say to their families ... I really don't want you to travel to Korea. It's the fear factor. This is why we need it to blow over quickly.

None of those achieved anything like what we are seeing today. But that is why four successive presidencies, including the leadership of President President Donald Trump, there has been a great focus on pandemic preparedness.
MERS only becomes a problem if it is mishandled, as a result of Ebola, there are far more people in the UK with experience in handling dangerous viruses than there were a year ago.
